The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Is Here, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the far corners of the universe. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Beloved Titles

Similar to the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.

However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow

The movie will welcome back of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

Mario's Major Moment

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut near the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his friends.

Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases already confirmed for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
