A police sergeant that leaped to the assistance of a partner that was assaulted by a blade-wielder received the Monarch's Honor for Valor.

Sgt Tim Ansell fought with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he pressed a knife to the neck of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the policemen and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist following a road collision in that location in mid-2023.

Brown attacked with blade the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a electric weapon.

"Policeman stabbed," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his radio.

Officer-mounted and dashcam video shared by the force revealed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood covering head, rush to Sgt Foster from the rear with a weapon outstretched.

He struck the officer who lost balance and dropped to the ground, before Sergeant Ansell intervened and struggled to restrain him to the pavement despite being continually attacked with the knife.

Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and waited for a clear shot, concluding the confrontation to an end.

Sgt Ansell was heard stating: "Please provide assistance on my throat now, I'm bleeding in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell received multiple deep cuts to his throat and more wounds to his arms and body, while Sergeant Foster received knife wounds.

The department reported Sgt Foster used his bare hands to stop his fellow officer's blood loss before medical personnel arrived.

The new recognition comes subsequent to the trio of policemen received organizational Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the local officer association in early 2024.

They further earned a North West Courage Honor in mid-2024.

"The responses of all three officers in the end saved each other and meant no civilians experienced any harm."

Brown was given to an psychiatric detention in early 2024, according to the department.
